Haymarket Center is Pleased to Announce a Major Addition to the 15 th Annual Summer Institute on Addictions.

Haymarket Center is pleased to announce that Michael L. Dennis, Ph.D., is one of the nation’s most prominent researchers in the field of substance abuse, will make two presentations at the upcoming Summer Institute on Addictions.

A theme of this year’s Summer Institute is Evidence-Based Practices in Substance Abuse Treatment. Dr. Dennis will present both an overview of evidence-based practices in substance abuse treatment and a discussion of implementing recovery management checkups (RMC), based on his exciting current research through a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). Both sessions will allow participants time for discussion.

At a time when grant writing has become an necessity to sustain community-based organizations, knowing about evidence-based practices has become extremely important. The Haymarket Center Summer Institute on Addictions has a 14-year history of providing treatment professionals and other interested groups with high quality sessions on topics related to substance abuse and mental health treatment. The Institute has attracted professionals from throughout the Midwest, with over 500 individuals expected to attend.

The success of the Summer Institute and this year’s emphasis on evidence-based practices has won funding from NIDA, which has allowed Haymarket to add Dr. Dennis to the already distinguished roster of speakers, including Lisa M. Najavits, Ph.D.; Daniel H. Angres, M.D.; Cardwell C. Nuckols, Ph.D.; and others.
