Topic: Tired, Wired, and Mired: A Look At Professional Burnout

Description:
Professional burnout is one of the major threats facing the counseling field as evidenced by many counselors leaving the field and many others functioning well below their previous levels of performance. Numerous factors contribute to this problem, such as personal characteristics of the counselor, emotionally overwhelming problems presented by clients, limited resources offered by organizations, and ever-increasing demands from the funding sources. In this workshop, we explore professional burnout from a systematic perspective with a special focus on helping the individual counselor to assess one’s vulnerability, to identify holistic methods to recover, and to develop strategies to prevent professional burnout.
Topic: What You Need To Know About HIV And Street Drugs

Description:
Substance users living with HIV face unique emotional and physical challenges. This interactive workshop will present the interactions between street or prescription drugs with HIV medication. Participants will also explore the special psycho-social basis and impact of living with addiction and HIV and will learn appropriate intervention and education strategies.

Description:
This workshop will increase the participant’s knowledge of the Latino/Hispanic culture and how it can impact on the delivery of substance abuse treatment services. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1) demonstrate a basic understanding of what the Latino population is; 2) identify specific ways in which Latino/Hispanic culture can impact the delivery of substance abuse treatment services; and 3) develop a plan for using the knowledge received from the workshop to improve the delivery of substance abuse treatment services to Latino/Hispanic clients.

Description:
This workshop will consist of a
comprehensive presentation on DUI law and the administrative hearing process.
When individuals lose their driving privileges as a result of driving under the
influence of alcohol or drugs their privileges can only be restored via an
administrative hearing with the Secretary of State. This workshop includes
information needed for effective documentation and requisite support by the
Secretary of State.

And Recovery

Description:
This workshop will focus on voucher systems in Illinois: how these systems effect treatment and recovery support; the inclusion of faith-based agencies in offering recovery support services and maintaining the separation of Church and State; the utilization of electronic health records in maintaining vouchers; and the national focus on voucher systems and recovery support. The workshop will also look at the clinical aspect of providing services to an addicted population and the correlation between treatment and recovery.

Please come to lot between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on day of workshop. Attendant will be available at those times to allow entrance to lot. Note: Bike racks available at corner of Washington & Morgan. Hats and shorts are not allowed in the building.
