Dr. Dan Lustig becomes President and CEO after 20 years at Haymarket Center

(Chicago, IL) Haymarket Center’s Board of Directors unanimously announced their choice of Dr. Dan

Lustig as the new President and CEO as of Thursday, February 9, 2017. Dr. Lustig has been serving as

the Interim executive since October of 2016. After a ninety-day strategic planning period and review of

all internal operations, Dr. Lustig presented his results and plans for the future of Haymarket.

Haymarket Board Chairman, Hon. Lee Daniels, officially announced the board’s decision to support Dr.

Lustig and his plans, which will lead Haymarket Center and meet the challenges presented by the state’s

financial crisis.

“Dr. Lustig has worked for many years with legislators and policy leaders to insure access to drug and

alcohol treatment. The Board thinks that anticipated changes to the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid

funding make Dan the best choice both to champion Haymarket Center externally and to lead it

internally,” said Lee Daniels, Chairman of Haymarket’s Board and former Speaker and Leader of the

Illinois House of Representatives.

“Dan understands Haymarket’s commitment to the vision of its founder, Father Ignatius McDermott, who

found the least of his brothers and gave them care. His colleagues hold him in high regard. He is a proven

leader clinically, administratively and externally,” Daniels said.

All of us at Haymarket understand our need to adapt to meet today’s challenges. The Board has a greater

understanding of the needs of our clients and their families because of the impact Heroin has had in the

community. Dr. Lustig has been a guest speaker in many communities, addressing and educating policy

leaders, educators, law enforcement and families about the need for and success possible through

treatment. We now have Dr. Lustig spearheading the programs to meet those needs,” Daniels said.
