What Does it Mean to be an Ally In Recovery (AIR)?

HR HayMarket - Monday, November 25, 2019

December is a special time when many of us are busy preparing for the holidays and spending time with friends and family. December is also a time of giving and a time for giving back to our communities. We give back not only because it feels good, but because it can make a real, tangible impact on those around us. This year consider giving back to your community by becoming a founding member of Haymarket Center’s new monthly giving circle, Ally in Recovery (AIR).

Ally In Recovery donors are united by their commitment to a common mission: Supporting the over 12,000 men and women who come to Haymarket Center to change their lives, reunite with their families and make our communities stronger and safer. Your monthly commitment of just $19.75 (the year Haymarket Center was founded) will help provide Haymarket Center with the resources so desperately needed to provide education, support, and prevention tools to those at risk of or impacted by chronic health issues including substance use disorder, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and more.

Please consider being an Ally In Recovery today… in hopes of providing a better tomorrow for our clients and all of those in Recovery.

Haymarket Center is the Midwest’s most comprehensive community-based provider of substance use and mental health treatment, battling one of our region’s most devastating health problems. 2019 Father Mac Appreciation Award Luncheon

HR HayMarket - Wednesday, November 06, 2019

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” —Maya Angelou

Haymarket Center is proud to bestow awards on two people who have enhanced the center's ability to provide ongoing community support at our 2019 Father Mac Appreciation Awards luncheon this month. The luncheon is named after the late Monsignor Ignatius McDermott, founder of Haymarket Center. We honor these exceptional individuals who have given their time and expertise to furthering Haymarket Center's mission to aid people with substance use disorders in their recovery by providing solutions.

Father Mac Appreciation Award

State Representative Deb Conroy

State Representative Conroy has worked to pass laws to fund resources that reduce opioid abuse and make our state government more efficient. She is the chair of the House Mental Health Committee, where she has worked to make sure insurers cover the care patients need. She has teamed up with area law enforcement to reduce drug use in the community and has fought to ensure that hospitals and clinics across Illinois have the proper funding they need.

Visionary Award

Peter O'Brien Sr President and CEO of MADO Management, LP.

MADO Management owns and manages the daily operations of three mental health rehabilitation facilities and one skilled and intermediate care facility. These facilities specialize in mental illness and coexisting chronic illnesses. Peter O’Brien is an advocate who shares his family's story to help promote understanding and awareness for mental health. He forges ahead with the quest to support the practice and expansion of person-centered programs. This vision follows those who have mental illness throughout their journey including hospitalization, rehabilitation, and community care.
