All Haymarket Center clients received continuing education on substance abuse and other important subject matter in the form of lectures and video presentations with discussion.
These take place each weekday (there is an abbreviated schedule on Sundays). The course continues for three weeks, after which the track is repeated.
The substance abuse program has several key aspects, including spirituality, the effects of alcohol and other drugs, family issues, guilt and shame, recovery, stress management, socialization, and relapse prevention.
In addition, Haymarket Center staff and consultants provide information and encourage discussion on other aspects of life in recovery: Parenting, health, nutrition, recreation and problem gambling, an educational area designed to focus on problems that may accompany a gambling habit, along with awareness and prevention services.

The apprentice program at Haymarket Center is designed to offer hands-on work experience to clients who have completed primary treatment and are working on aftercare plans in anticipation of the need to seek full or part-time employment.
The program is six months in duration and offers supervised work experience.
Clients are advised on preparing resumes that include the work they have done as apprentices.
The manager of Human Resources at Haymarket Center heads the program, interviewing all applicants and assessing them for placement in its clerical and support areas. The manager is responsible for training and supervision in the assigned position. No apprentice is placed in a position involving client care or access to any confidential records.
The Program Manager conducts monthly group training sessions for all apprentices, with focus on appropriate work attire, attitudes, resume development, job performance expectations, job search and interviews, and handling work-related problems.
This training program is intended to help each client gain independence through outside employment. Successful job search and placement are primary goals with final meetings devoted to converting the apprenticeship into work experience.
